Argentinian tennis player Tomás Etcheverry (ranked 54th) defeated Italian Andrea Pellegrino (ranked 145th) in straight sets to advance to the quarterfinals of the ATP 250 in Buenos Aires. The 26-year-old player from the Platense region won 6-3, 6-4, taking approximately one hour and 39 minutes for the match. Etcheverry began his campaign at the Argentina Open strongly, not only with the victory but also by taking a 3-0 lead in the first set and securing a match in which he would face no major scares. With a service break in the second game and after holding all of his own serves, the albiceleste player took the opening set 6-3. Far from showing signs of fatigue, Etcheverry once again imposed his hierarchy, which places him among the top 50 tennis players in the world, to break the Italian's serve in the fifth game and extinguish his rival's hopes of taking the match to a third set.
